Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Eugene Zwane has remarked that the team has won nothing yet, so it’s too early for them to act as if they’ve already won the Nedbank Cup.
“I do not think it is the right time to celebrate as yet because Tinkler and Pirates have not won the Nedbank Cup as yet,” Zwane told Goal.com
“For me Bucs success for this season can only be measured once the club has won the Nedbank Cup.”
At the same time Zwane believes the reason Bucs have improved so much is due to their defensive shakeup, particularly with Edwin Gyimah bolstering the backline. The Ghanaian was sent off against Sundowns but has been key lately, and nullified the Brazilians before his red card.
“Pirates are a team with a pedigree to challenge for trophies every season but I think (Eric) Tinkler deserves credit for helping the club turn the tables around.
“Now every club is struggling to score against Pirates as they did against Sundowns who were rampant throughout with their CBD but could not break the Bucs defence on the weekend,” he concluded.
