Cristiano Ronaldo once again proved how big a player he is to Real Madrid after leading the Spanish giants to a comprehensive 3 – 0 beating of German side VfL Wolfsburg in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter finals pitting the two sides at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday 12 April.
Ronaldo netted all the three goals to help Real Madrid overturn a 0 – 2 deficit suffered in the first leg and in his post match comments, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane did not hide his admiration of the Portuguese forward.
The Frenchman termed Ronaldo the best player in the world and a special player for the club but was quick to add that his exploits were as a result of team play.
“What can I say about Cristiano Ronaldo. He is demonstrating what he is, the best player in the world. That’s what makes him a special player. He need all the team and that’s what he wants: to speak about the team, of what they have done together. He needs the others to be able to do what he’s done. He’s special because not everyone can score three goals,” he said.
With the win, Real Madrid qualified for their sixth straight Champions League semi final.
