Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted that his key forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has been playing a lot and needs some time to rest even as the Spanish giants go into a very important period of their career.
Ronaldo once again featured for Los Blancos in the 3 – 0 win over Villarreal on Wednesday 20 April but did not score.
He suffered an injury in the game, and although it is not likely to keep him out of Tuesday’s Champions League tie at Manchester City, Zidane admits he wishes he could take more precautions with him.
“With Cristiano, it is important to rest, but he always wants to play and do his best. Sometimes, for me, like today when he leaves the field, it is difficult. Let’s see when he recovers.
“Cristiano is working very well for the team and he does more than just score goals,” Zidane said.
With five games remaining, Real remain a point behind both Barcelona and Atletico in the title race, but Zidane is happy with this players’ attitude.
