The smiles are back at Real Madrid after an emphatic 7 – 1 win over Celta Vigo in the La Liga clash on Saturday 5 March at the Santiago Bernabeu and the club would want to imagine it is perfect prep for their return to Europe with a game against AS Roma in the horizon.
The match was not all rosy for Madrid as whistles of disapproval rented the air all through the first half as the hosts took a 1 – 0 lead courtesy of Pepe’s goal a minute to the break.
Madrid, however resumed in a different color and banged in six, with Cristiano Ronaldo a subject of the whistles in the first half getting four and manager Zinedine Zidane says the whistles spurred him to do better in the second half.
Four goals in the game places Ronaldo well in the race for the Golden Boot and Zidane termed him ‘unique’.
“I will stick with his performance,” Zidane said. “It’s part of football that the fans whistle sometimes, not just [at] Cristiano. It is like that. These are demanding fans who know the game well and always want more from their players. That is good to improve, to do more, and we always need to do more.
“Then, you all know Cristiano — he is capable of putting in four. Few can do that. He is unique.” He said.
