Bayern Munich went for the kill in their last group game of the UEFA Champions League despite the fact that they have already finished tops in Group F.
Another class act from Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski which saw him hitting a brace gave Bayern Munich a 0-2 away win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night.
Both sides hit the ground running in Wednesday’s clash as Medhi Benatia made the first go at goal bute he headed wide from a Xabi Alonso corner, before Josip Pivaric was denied by Sven Ulreich at the other end of the pitch.
After his commendable show over the weekend, Franck Ribery came close to registering a goal scoring return to Champions League football but the Frenchman was denied by Dinamo keeper Eduardo from the left.
Wednesday’s outing was Ribery’s first start following an ankle injury.
The ding-dong affair continued till the break as neither Bayern nor their hosts could break the deadlock.
After earlier misses, Bayern finally found the net just after the hour mark when Muller picked out Lewandowski from the right, before the Polish striker headed past Eduardo.
Pep Guardiola’s side did not have to wait too long to increase the tally as they doubled their lead three minutes later, when Sebastien Rode played a precise through-ball into the path of Lewandowski, who placed a finish into the net.
The hosts though aware they are down and out of Europe tried hard to give their fans something to cheer but it was not to be as Bayern held on firm to finish the group stage with 15 points from 6 games,
