Former Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo will have a full complement of current and ex players invited to his testimonial later this month, and the 35-year old is pleased with the development.
The former Everton defender has been in Europe, visiting his old stomping grounds and speaking to players expected at the game and is happy at the overwhelming response
He said: “It has been amazing. Almost everybody wants to come and play,” he said. “My only regret is that I can’t invite everybody.”
At Everton where he spent nearly a decade of his playing career, Yobo was warmly received by the entire club and presented to a stadium-wide ovation by the fans at half time of their Premier League game against Bournemouth.
“That was an emotional moment for me. And I would like to thank Evertonians for the love.”
The Testimonial, on May 27, will be hosted by the Rivers State government at the new Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
Joseph Yobo will continually be in the hearts of football loving persons across the Africa region as one player that played passionately for his Nigeria Super Eagles team and was also impressive for his former club Everton.
