366football takes you through our five candidates for the award, including those who participate in the South African PSL and abroad.
Who do you believe deserves the honour?
Masha’s claim for the nomination is that he was the PSL Player of the Season for 2014-15, the key man for steering Chiefs to the title. The central defender was unfairly ignored by Shakes Mashaba for the Bafana Bafana squad due to his age. Now at 31-years of age Mashamaite is settling down in Sweden. It’s still early days to assess his overall effect at Hacken. Due to Visa problems he made his debut late and since then he has been a regular in the side.
Despite that he’s remaining at Ajax and will fight for a spot. If he can’t make it then the South African is expected to move. However he’s been a regular in Amsterdam in recent seasons and any South African who can get into the Ajax team has a claim to fame. Furthermore, SA coach Shakes Mashaba appeared to have something against him, dropping him from the Afcon but since then Serero has become a regular in all the qualifiers before and after that, it means that Serero’s quality for SA is undeniable.
