On Thursday 14 January Spanish giants Real Madrid was rocked with a FIFA ban on transfers for the next two transfer windows for flouting FIFA rules regarding the transfer of players under 18 years.
The ban means the next time Real can register new players after the current window will be in summer 2017 but the club has already stated that it will be appealing the ruling.
As the club hopes to overturn the decision, they have support from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who says the appeal will be successful though without stating why he feels so.
“They will appeal, they will cancel the ban and they will be allowed to buy in the next two transfer windows. That’s what will happen,” he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
With the ban, Real Madrid is expected to go into a transfer spree in the remaining 15 days of the current window but Wenger is not worried he might lose his star players.
