Wazito FC will not have the start they had wished for in the National Super League after getting promoted at the end of the 2015 season, following the demise of the team’s midfielder Kevin Ikatwa, popularly known as Razor.
The midfielder was stabbed thrice in the neck on Tuesday 15 March, allegedly by his girlfriend after the two had a quarrel.
Apparently, the midfielder had denied responsibility for her pregnancy and the lady took to social media to expose him, which riled the midfielder and he took to her place spoiling for a fight.
He found her waiting and from the confrontation that ensued, onlookers say the midfielder left the house bleeding from the neck before dropping dead.
His club has issued a statement confirming as much, describing him as a dedicated member of the team.
“Wazito FC regrets to announce the sudden death of its polished midfielder Kelvin ‘Razor’ Ikatwa who died this afternoon. He was committed to the team, disciplined and a team player. Kelvin held Wazito in his heart and gave his all for the betterment of the club and his professional growth,” part of the statement read.
The lady has since been arrested and will be presented in court in due course.
