The Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario has revealed that he will soon be writing to world football governing body FIFA to seek guidance on how to conduct the 2015 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections set to commence on Thursday 29 October.
The minister’s move comes in the aftermath of a meeting between his ministry and top football stakeholders which was snubbed by the FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya.
Wario revealed that his ministry will also write to the recently constituted FKF elections board seeking to know its plan on the forthcoming polls.
“There is so much going on concerning the elections and this week, we will be writing to FIFA to seek for direction, pointing out all that has been going on on the ground. We are also writing to the recently constituted elections board, we will look at the constitution, see and hear what their progress is,” Wario said.
Wario is on record pushing the federation to seek compliance with the Sports Act 2013 and he pointed out from the feedback they will get from FIFA, the election date will be finally confirmed.
“There are so many issues we are looking at here and we cannot say the election will or will not be on the 14th. This will depend on what FIFA tells us,” Wario added.
