Kenyan international Victor Wanyama picked no award in the Southampton end of season awards gala.
Wanyama, who scooped the President’s award for his performance in the 2014/15 season lost his award to English left back Ryan Bertrand.
Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk, who joined from Scottish champions Celtic in the summer, was the biggest winner of the night, scooping the Fans’ Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards after an excellent first campaign at St Mary’s.
The 24 year-old garnered over 50 percent of the fans’ votes, with striker Shane Long finishing second and midfielder Steven Davis coming third.
It was a big night for the defenders, as Cuco Martina’s stunning strike in the Saints’ 4-0 win over Arsenal on Boxing Day 2015 was voted as the club’s Goal of the Season. The summer signing’s brilliant curling effort against the Gunners raked in over 70 per cent of the votes, both online and in the room on the night, to come out on top ahead of strikes from Graziano Pellè, James Ward-Prowse, Steven Davis and Jay Rodriguez.
It was also a defender who won the club’s Young Player of the Season, as Alfie Jones picked the award for a fantastic campaign with Saints’ Under-18s and Under-21s.
The final presentation of the night saw goalkeeper Kelvin Davis recognised for his incredible service to Southampton Football Club.
