Kenyan international Victor Wanyama’s fine start at White Hart Lane, following the move to Tottenham Hotspurs took a turn for the better as he scored the only goal in his first game at home for his new team as they beat Crystal Palace 1 – 0 on Saturday 20 August in the Barclays Premier League clash.
The North London side opened the season with a 1 – 1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park and the Kenyan midfielder struggled with emotions in his post match comments, saying the goal was a special one and meant the world to him.
“It means the world to me, getting a goal on my debut in front of our fans is amazing. It’s maybe the only thing I could ask this year! The fans were unbelievable and that goal. I can’t describe it. It was a special goal for me,” he told the official Tottenham website, tottenhamhotspur.com.
Wanyama will be keen to keep his place in the team even when Moussa Dembele returns from his six match ban that was imposed on him towards the end of the 2015/16 season.
