Kenyan international Victor Wanyama will get his league debut for new side Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday 13 August when the Londoners tour Liverpool to play Everton in their opening game of the season at the Goodison Park and the midfielder is looking to give it a strong start.
The midfielder will be facing off with his former coach at Southampton FC, Ronald Koeman, who also jumped ship after the 2015/16 season and he knows it will be tough, given his prior knowledge of his former manager.
Speaking to the club’s official portal, the Kenyan international stated that they are in high spirits and ready for the game, hoping to register a good start.
“I know that Ronald Koeman likes his teams to play good football and he will maybe try to put players behind the ball as well to make it difficult for us. He knows that he has to get a good result because he wants to start well but for us, we want to start well too and I think it’s going to be a difficult game.
“We know Everton are a good side but we are determined to start the season well and everyone is looking forward to going to Goodison on Saturday and hopefully making a good start,” Wanyama told the club’s official portal.
