Kenyan international Victor Wanyama’s Tottenham Hotspurs side did not pick wins on its Melbourne preseason tour, losing 0 – 1 to Spanish side Atletico Madrid on Friday 29 July after an earlier 1 – 2 loss to Italian side Juventus.
However the midfielder is happy with the gains made in the trip, as he says he has gotten to know his team mates better.
He featured in both matches and he says as a team they can take a lot of positives from the trip ahead of the new EPL season where they kick off with a game against Everton.
Wanyama says they will go back and work on their mistakes in the tournament.
“This trip has been good – I’ve got to know my team-mates and I’ve enjoyed it. I know the gaffer has worked us hard but it’s been great to be here. It is important for me to get to know my team-mates better and this trip has helped me do that – that’s how you build relationships and team spirit so it’s been really good for that.
“We can only take positives from this trip – we’ve got some good players here and we’ve played some good football. There are things we can learn from too but we’ll get back on the training ground and work on that.” He told the club’s official website, tottenhamhotspur.com.
