Kenyan international Victor Wanyama, currently Melbourne with his Tottenham Hotspurs team on pre season tour had a first feel with the club’s fans on Monday 25 July following his move from Southampton in June. The team had a training session on Monday before taking some time off to interact with their fans in Australia and signing autographs with Wanyama admitting he was moved by the love from the fans.
On Tuesday 26 July, his team will be taking on Italian champions Juventus in their opening match of the International Champions Cup (ICC) tournament and he looks to reward them with a good result against Juve.
Ahead of the match, Wanyama told the official Tottenham portal that against the Italian giants, they expect a tough clash but he is banking on their preparations to start it off with a win.
“It was great to meet our fans and they showed us a lot of love. They all welcomed me and said really nice things. Their support means a lot and hopefully we’ll do well for them against Juventus.
“We know it will be tough against Juventus but we’ve worked hard and hopefully we’ll get a positive result,” he told the club website.
At the tournament, Tottenham will also play Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid before playing Inter Milan in a friendly match ahead of his team’s first match of the season, away to Everton.
