A total of eight foreign based players arrived in the country in time for their flight to Kampala, Uganda, where they will be taking on neighbors Uganda Cranes in an international friendly scheduled for Tuesday 30 August.
Captain Victor Wanyama who plies his trade in England with Tottenham Hotspur and was in for the entire 90 minutes as Spurs held Liverpool to a 1 – 1 draw on Saturday 27 August, was the first of the pros to check in.
Zambia based trio of Jesse Were, Anthony Akumu and David Owino who play for Zesco United have also arrived as well as David Ochieng (New York Cosmos), Gonzalez Ismael (Las Palmas), Jonah Ayunga (Brighton & Hove Albion), and Lelan Joshua (Plymouth Argyle).
Brian Mandela of Maritzburg United FC was scheduled to arrive later on Sunday night, while Ayub Timbe (Lierse) is expected Monday morning, with Abud Omar (Slavia Sofia) and Michael Olunga (IF Djugardens) set to link up with the team in Uganda on Tuesday morning.
The match is in preparation for the team’s AFCON qualifier against Zambia set for September 4, 2016.
Stars are expected back in the country on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 ahead of their departure to Zambia on Friday, September 2, 2016.
