Kenyan international Victor Wanyama once again managed 90 minutes as his team Southampton returned to winning ways in style with a 4 – 0 thrashing of Arsenal on Boxing Day at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
The Saints had gone winless in five matches and the big win attracted praise from the manager Ronald Koeman who termed it unbelievable.
It was a perfect night for the Saints out at St. Mary’s and in his post match comments as quoted on the club website, Koeman added that it was a depiction of the confidence in the team.
“It was a great team performance – a 4-0 win against a very strong side like Arsenal. It was unbelievable and also a little bit finally the feeling we showed what we can do.
“The second half was perfect in all the strengths what we have and you saw that after the 2-0, the belief and the confidence in the team. It was a perfect game. We played a little bit different with Shane and Sadio in front, but they created so many problems to the Arsenal defence – it was a great team performance from everybody.” He said.
Next up for Southampton will be a game against West Ham United on Monday 28 December.
