Victor Wanyama, the Kenya national team skipper recovered well in time for the Tanzania friendly match after earlier being termed unavailable for the match on Sunday 29 May.
The skipper played a pivotal role, scoring the only goal for Kenya as the two nations shared spoils in a 1 – 1 draw but the Harambee Stars looked sluggish and second best all afternoon.
The team lacked the expected coordination and rarely threatened in the match. Wanyama says that was a result of many new players in the team but notes that still, they tried to give their all.
“In this match we had a lot of new players and so it was hard to find the coordination we desired but we tried our best and everyone gave their all and thus the result we got,” he said.
He however lauded the federation for organizing for the match, stating that it will go a long way in helping them address their weaknesses.
“It is good to have friendly matches of such magnitude so we can try all things and see our mistakes before going to the competitive games so I am happy with the experience and hope for more,” he added.
