Southampton’s Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama is reportedly a Liverpool target
Harambee Stars skipper Victor Mugubi Wanyama who plies his trade for Southampton could be headed to a switch to Liverpool when the transfer window opens in January 2016.
According to Winner Sports, the midfielder is wanted as a replacement for Joe Allen who apparently ‘has never been the most popular players among the Liverpool faithful’ since joining from Swansea City.
Back in March 2013, while still at Scottish side Glasgow Celtic, Wanyama was a Liverpool target.
Wanyama was expected to make a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer to join his former Coach at Southampton Mauricio Pochettino, but the deal fell through at the eleventh hour.
Wanyama signed for Premier League side Southampton for a fee of £12.5 million in July 2013, two years after his stay with Celtic. Wanyama joined Celtic from Belgian side Germinal Beerschot in a £900,000 payout in July 2011.
