Ugandan defender Godfrey Walusimbi has blasted the reports that he has signed a new deal at Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia, as posted on the club’s official website.
The post on the website stated that the defender had signed a new two year deal but he says that is not true as he only had a meeting with the club administrators but no agreement over a new deal was reached.
He says the coach wants him at the team in the 2016 season but feels the club has to handle his contract issue more professionally.
“Contrary to what they wrote on the club website, I have not signed the contract yet; we had a meeting but did not talk much and I did not sign anything. I wonder why they said that on the website.
“The coach wants me in for the coming season but the club also has to play its part; I cannot be at the team without a contract and the club cannot say I have signed yet I haven’t. This matter should be handled very professionally,” he said.
Walusimbi’s two year deal at Gor Mahia ended at the close of the 2015 season.
