Victor Valdes’s wife Yolanda Cardona has accused Manchester United of not inviting her husband to club’s Unicef Gala Dinner.
According to the Independent, all of the Reds’ first-team squad turned up for the event – which raised £230,000 for charity – but the goalkeeper was not in attendance.
In a post on Instagram, alongside a picture of the Spanish-speaking table which featured Juan Mata, Marco Rojo, Sergio Romero, David De Gea, Ander Herrera and their partners, Cardona wrote:
“Do not invite to my husband @vicvaldes1 to be part of the #united4unicef , its the last thing you don’t expect from one of the biggest club as @manchesterunited “A Charity event, its always a Charity event”
No invitar a mi marido @vicvaldes1 a la gala #united4unicef , es lo ultimo que esperaba de un club tan grande como el @manchesterunited “Un Acto Benefico, siempre es un acto Benefico” Do not invite to my husband @vicvaldes1 to be part of the #united4unicef , its the last thing you don’t expect from one of the biggest club as @manchesterunited “A Charity event, its always a Charity event”
It is not known whether Cardona was invited to the event, or she was sent the picture by one of the players, or their partners, who were present.
Valdes has endured a woeful time at United since joining on a free last January, and is expected to leave the club in the next transfer window.
Earlier this summer, there were reports that the Spaniard had refused to train with the reserves by United Louis van Gaal, a claim which Valdes has denied. He has not been allocated a squad number yet this season.
