Manchester United players have expressed major reservations about the appointment of Jose Mourinho as the club’s next manager.
The controversial Portuguese is set to be named as Louis van Gaal’s successor this week, ending months of speculation linking him with the Old Trafford job.
However, the Daily Mail reports that a number of senior players are not convinced Mourinho is the right man for the job.
Sources claim a delegation of players have expressed their doubts to senior members of the club’s hierarchy.
Certain members of the squad feel Mourinho will adopt a pragmatic approach at Old Trafford similar to Van Gaal’s much maligned tactics.
Privately, a number of United’s players grew agitated at what they perceived as the Dutchman’s negativity and want a more attacking manager.
There are also fears that Mourinho’s tendency to stay in a job for no longer than four years will be counter-productive.
