Werder Bremen’s Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah struck for the 11th goal of the season in all competition for Green Whites in Tuesday’s seven goal thriller against Borussia Moenchengladbach coming from behind to win.
The 25 year old scored his side’s fourth goal to see off the hosts and book a place in the next round of the DFB Pokal with a 4-3 win at the Borussia-Park.
The goal was his third goal in the DFB Pokal competition having scored in each round of the competition against Würzburger Kickers and Cologne.
It was the second win over Moenchengladbach who crashed out of the UEFA Champions League this season.
The Viktor Skripnik’s side had earlier in the season beat Gladbach 2-1 on matchday three of the current Bundesliga season.
Aron Jóhannsson and Jannik Vestergaard both scored for Werder.
Coach Viktor Skripnik hailed his side’s incredible feat in the encounter.
“We’re overjoyed with four goals away to a very good team. It’s incredible.”
“The team believed in themselves and were effective going forward. Congratulations to the boys.”
Ujah will be hoping to add to his goal tally on Saturday when they travel to Eintracht Frankfurt.
He joined Werder Bremen for a fee of €4.5M from Cologne in the summer.
