Top Ugandan striker Farouk Miya will be joining Belgian giants Standard Liege on a year long loan deal after the ongoing African Nations Championships (CHAN) in Rwanda.
The striker had a great season for his club SC Vipers and country, helping the Uganda Cranes qualify for CHAN, the final round of 2018 World Cup qualifiers as well as winning the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge and it was just a matter of time before such a deal came.
The Belgian side has confirmed he will sign with the club on loan with the option of making the deal permanent.
“Standard Liege, the Ugandan club SC Vipers and Faruoq Miya have agreed a season-long deal with a purchase option.
“Miya has attracted interest from many European clubs but of all the requests, he was seduced by the project of our club.
“Standard Liege welcomes Faruoq Miya and wishes him the best in our colors,” a club statement on the site stated.
Miya has already scored one goal at the CHAN tournament.
