Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane says his team is ready for the UEFA Super Cup clash against domestic rivals Sevilla.
UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid Europa League champions Seivilla will next Tuesday clash in the UEFA Super Cup showdown at the Lerkendal Stadion, Trondheim (Norway).
Zidane’s team return from the United States after having played three games in the International Champions Cup as part of their preparations for the UEFA Super and the former World Cup winner with France in his assessment of his squad’s readiness for the Sevilla tie after beating Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich in their final game of the tour said:
“My assessment of the tour is a positive one. The team is ready for the Super Cup and after three games and three weeks of training we’re ready for Tuesday’s game, which will be our first important match.”
“The players who haven’t been with us for pre-season will return and we’ll see how they’re doing back in Madrid. Karim will be training with us and then we’ll see what we do. We hope that he’ll be able to play in the Super Cup. He’s getting stronger and he’s trained with us. It’s tough when you aren’t able to train as usual, but the most important thing is that he’s with us.”
“The best thing about pre-season is that we’ve worked hard, but we must keep it up, because it’s a long season and we’re going to need to continue in the same vein and keep the work rate up. James played his first 45 minutes and gradually he’s getting up to speed. I’m not concerned that Morata isn’t scoring, he offers us a lot and the goals will come. I would like Asensio to remain at the club, but we’ll speak about that when we get back to Madrid.” Zidane told the Whites’ official website.
