Uefa hands Sakho a Ban
After testing positive for a banned drug used for losing weight, Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho will iitially get a 30 day suspension.
This will make sure he cannot be selected by the Reds at the end of the season, even though Liverpool already stated they won’t use him.
In the meantime Uefa will run a fuller investigation on his drug test and decide how long the total ban should be.
When the full ban hits Sakho is also expected to miss France’s Euro 2016 campaign at home, which would be a major blow for his ambition.
Right now his career is in greater danger in club football, as Sakho hopes that by not contesting the first test, that Uefa will give him a reduced ban of around six months.
On the other end of the scale he could get a two year ban, at which point his Liverpool career could be over.
The Liverpool player has to stay off the football pitch for a while. Meanwhile, the embattled defender could jeopardise his career if Uefa refuses to be lenient with their charges.
