Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane has ruled out risking his lethal forward, Cristiano Ronaldo or Karin Benzema if the duo are not fully fit for the must-win UEFA Champions League second leg semi final clash against Manchester City.
Ronaldo was conspicuously missing in the first leg where Madrid fired blanks at the Etihad stadium and while reports suggest his recovery is on track for the second leg, Zidane has declared that he won’t push his luck too far if the Portuguese or others on the injury list like Benzema are not fully fit for the highly anticipated tie.
“I want [Ronaldo and Benzema] to play [against City] with zero risk. I don’t want to risk anything.
“I’d like to say they’re both at 100 percent, but I can’t. The Madrid Coach confessed.
Despite the injured duo, Zidane said he would try his best to line out a winning squad in Saturday’s La Liga clash against Real Sociedad
He said: “Others will play [on Saturday]. It’s an important game because it’s always better to enter a Wednesday with a win.”
“I don’t think it’s a risk to play [Gareth] Bale. Normally he would.
“There’s no Karim and Cristiano, but the others are and ready to play. We’ll put out the team with the best chance of winning.” The Madrid Coach assured.
