While he is not sure of getting action against the 10-time European champions, Real Madrid, Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho has declared that he is ready for the challenge if given the opportunity by Coach Manuel Pellegrini.
Iheanacho has enjoyed very little playing time in the Champions League since he was drafted as a replacement for French forward Sami Nasri who was formerly injured.
Having showed class over the weekend; scoring a brace in the Premier League clash against Stoke City, Iheanacho says it will be a dream come true to face Cristiano Ronaldo and his Real Madrid teammates in the Champions League on Tuesday.
“I think I should dream about that because it’s a great team to dream about. It would be a dream come true to play against them. I think I’ll be happy when I play against them,” Iheanacho told reporters
He continued: “Ronaldo and Messi are the greatest players on the planet so I think playing against them is a big thing to anyone so it would be a big thing to me if I play against him on Tuesday.
“We really need to win here because at their home it’s not going to be an easy game so we need to show character and work hard and make sure we get a win.
“It’s a great achievement for the club and for everybody being in the last four of the tournament. We really need to go forward and get to the final. It would be a dream when we get to the final so we’re really hoping for that.”
It is yet to be seen if Coach Manuel Pellgrini would indeed give Iheanacho more playing time against the visiting Spanish giants who are eyeing an astonishing 11th Champions League title this season.
