Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho is on course for his European debut as he traveled on Monday with the rest of the Manchester City squad to Kyiv for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Dynamo Kyiv.
Iheanacho was only recently included in City’s Euro squad as a replacement for the injured Sami Nasri
The 19-year old Nigerian was in action during Sunday’s FA Cup Fifth Round tie at Stamford Bridge where the Blues thrashed the Citizens 5-1 to beat them to a quarter-final spot, but Iheanacho will be keen to get that behind him to face the bigger Euro challenge.
Interestingly, Dynamo Kyiv will be playing their first competitive game in nearly two months on Wednesday night.
Looking ahead to Wednesday game, City goalkeeper, Joe Hart said he and his teammates will give their best shot at winning even away from home.
“We’ve got to believe that [City can win it],” Hart told mcfc.co.uk
“Else there is no point in turning up on Wednesday. We’ve got to believe that we’ve got what it takes. You know, it’s the best of the best, and if you’re not at your best you will lose, simple as that, in this competition. So it’s all about peaking for the game and being in the right place at the right time.
“It’s an amazing competition. It’s something we really look forward to as a team. But we’re very lucky that we’re involved in a lot of competitions.
“The majority of the time when it comes to the Champions League we’re still fighting on all fronts, and this is a good time to be a Manchester City player and a good time to be fighting.” He concluded.
