Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has told his team mates to expect hostilities in Munich when they play Bayern Munich in the return leg of a group stage fixture in match day four of the 2015/16 UEFA Champion League.
Bundesliga leaders Bayern suffered their only defeat of the season at the Emirates Stadium two weeks ago, and Arsenal need another positive result in Bavaria after shock opening group defeats to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos.
Arsenal will file out against the Bundesliga Champions in a crunch Champions League game at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night with the hope of securing their second group victory but the World Cup winner believes the 2013 edition winners will show anger following the first leg defeat.
“They will be angry. We are the first team that really challenged them and beat them at the end, so they will try to show they are better than us.
“They played on Friday to get well prepared for the midweek – the Germans are clever! But we improved our position in the last game against Munich and we need to get something out of this game.
“That puts pressure on us to perform and we need to defend even better.” The Arsenal vice-captain told the Independent.
