Allan Wanga and Teddy Akumu are the first foreign based players to link up with the Kenya national team Harambee Stars as the team prepares for the trip to Mauritius where they will play the hosts in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Wednesday 7 October.
Wanga, based in Tanzania and Akumu who plies his trade with Al Khartoum of Sudan were part of the Saturday 3 October training as the team went through its final paces before traveling to Mauritius and assistant coach Musa Otieno confirmed they are in good shape.
The team is set to leave on Sunday 4 October at 12pm EAT and Musa confirmed three other foreign based players are expected to link up with the team in Mauritius.
“Allan Wanga and Teddy Akumu have already joined camp and they seem to be in good spirit and form. We are sure to meet Brian Mandela, Ayub Timbe and Johanna Omollo when we land in Mauritius but for the rest it is still a 50 – 50 case.
“We will be leaving for Mauritius tomorrow at noon,” he said.
The return leg will be staged in Nairobi four days after the first leg.
