Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the duo of Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny will miss the start of the new Premier League season as he plans to give them an extended break after the Euro 2016.
The Arsenal duo represented France at the European Championship and only lost in the final against Portugal on July 10.
Wenger wants both players to recharge their batteries ahead of the new premier league season as he is expecting to fight for the domestic title in the 2016/17 campaign.
“You consider the rest time because France had a long, long go and I believe that they need four weeks’ holiday because they need to recover from that,” Wenger told Arsenal Player, as noted by Sky Sports.
“It takes you two or three weeks to regenerate, to recover completely, and they need to come back with hunger. That disappointment to lose a final, it takes some time to recover from that.
“I believe the club benefits from experiences at the top level, and the mental experiences as well that they have gone through with such a huge pressure. Of course, in the longer term you benefit from that.”
Arsenal opens their season with a home fixture against Liverpool at the Emirates on August 14.
