The race for the 2016 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title has just heated up with one of the two main contenders – Tusker FC bagging three crucial points to extend their leadership of the log heading into the weekend.
Tusker FC were the first in action on the 25th week of matches, taking on Muhoroni Youth on Friday 23 September and did themselves a whole lot of favors with a 2 – 1 win over their visitors at the Afraha Stadium.
For Tusker, the game was all but wrapped in the 11th minute, with early goals from Anthony Ndolo and George Mandela, both who were handed rare starts by head coach Paul Nkata.
Ndolo opened the scoring on the sixth minute, capitalizing on a defensive mistake to control Hashim Sempala’s cross and slot it past the flatfooted Farouk Shikhalo.
Mandela served the same treat five minutes later, with just one touch to guide home Noah Wafula’s low cross under feeble pressure from Muhoroni defender Wycliffe Nyangechi.
Paul Muchika pulled one back for the visitors in the second half but that was just all they could get as Tusker registered a double over Muho.
League action continues on Saturday 24 – Sunday 25 with seven matches lined up.
