Ten – time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Tusker FC extended their dominance over newly promoted side, Kakamega Homeboyz, beating their hosts at the Mumias Sports Complex 1 – 0 on Friday 6 May.
Though Tusker managed the win that takes them to the summit of the KPL log, the Brewers, known for their fluidity, will not be too happy with their output in the match, having struggled to break down the hosts.
It needed an 80th minute penalty for the visitors to pick maximum points from the clash, after Homeboyz goalkeeper Michael Wanyika had fouled Humphrey Mieno in the box.
Ghanaian Steven Owusu, who had just come on for Michael Khamati stepped up to convert the spot kick that delivered three points.
Tusker FC had a goal disallowed on the 16th minute after Michael Khamati was adjudged to have controlled the ball with his hand before scoring.
The end of the match was marred with controversy as a lot of protests from the Homeboyz players and technical bench saw Augustine Etemesi, red carded while on the bench.
