The draw for the 2016 KPL Top 8 Cup will be conducted on Tuesday 12 April, the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) management has confirmed.
As communicated to media houses by the KPL CEO Jack Oguda, the exercise will be carried out at the Southern Sun Hotel in Parklands, Nairobi starting 10am.
This year’s tournament will kick off on Sunday 1 May with a number of matches scheduled for Monday 2 May.
Ushuru FC will be making their maiden appearance in the 2016 edition while the rest will be familiar faces; Gor Mahia, Ulinzi Stars, Sofapaka, Bandari, AFC Leopards, Tusker and Muhoroni Youth who are making a second appearance after their debut in 2015 which did not leave much to smile about.
Gor Mahia and Tusker will be gunning for third wins in the tournament while Ulinzi Stars will be looking to bag a second title. All the other participants are yet to win the cup in their previous appearances.
Ulinzi Stars won the inaugural edition, in 2011.
The winner in the tournament bags Kshs 1 million.
