Senegal star Sadio Mané is due for a medical at Liverpool on Monday as he closes in on a proposed £30million move from Southampton.
The two clubs are believed to have agreed a transfer fee at the weekend, with Southampton initially holding out for £40m, and the 24-year-old forward will now discuss personal terms.
According to BBC Sport, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp earmarked Mané as a priority transfer target after an impressive 2015/16 season and especially his display against his side last March where he came on as a second half substitute to score twice as Southampton overcame a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 at St Mary’s.
If the deal is completed, Mane who scored 15 goals in 43 appearances last season will become the third-most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history, surpassing the £29m paid for Roberto Firmino last summer.
The Senegalese star who joined Southampton from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014 for £11.8m will also be the fifth player to swap St Mary’s for Anfield over the course of the last two years, following in the footsteps of Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert and Nathaniel Clyne.
