Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal in principle for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka and are hoping to announce the deal in the coming weeks.
Xhaka has been wooed by Arsene Wenger’s side for several months and while Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are the most recent side to show interest in the midfielder, Xhaka is said to favour a move to Emirates Stadium instead of the Etihad.
According to the Mirror, the Arsenal want to sign the Swiss for £33.8 million and “are understood to have agreed a deal in principle and hope to announce it well before the Euros.”
However, Dirk Krumpelmann of German outlet Bild (h/t Sport Witness) “Arsenal are said to have €43 million ready, and Gladbach are looking for €45 million.”
Per Cross, Xhaka is similarly determined to have his future secured prior to the showpiece in France:
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also considering lodging a bid for Celtic starlet Kieran Tierney, according to reports.
The Daily Record say the Gunners could offer £10million for the Scotland international, who has impressed for Celtic this season.
Manchester City and Liverpool are also interested in the 18-year-old, but Arsenal are said to be leading the race for his signature. Tierney’s current deal at Parkhead expires in 2019.
