Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Queens Park Rangers central defender Steven Caulker on loan until the end of season following the defender’s contract termination with Southampton.
The 24-year-old who was on loan at Southampton has seen that agreement cancelled immediately to allow him to move to Anfield.
Liverpool in a statement on its website wrote;
“Liverpool Football Club have completed the signing of Steven Caulker on loan from Queens Park Rangers until the end of the season.
“The relevant paperwork has been completed in time to allow the centre-back to be eligible for selection for Wednesday evening’s Barclays Premier League fixture with Arsenal at Anfield.”
Caulker arrival eases the injury situation Klopp is currently facing in defense, which includes both short and long-term absentees.
Liverpool have been hit by a succession of injuries to central defenders. The Merseyside outfit have lost Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren to hamstring injuries, but Kolo Toure (cramp) and Mamadou Sakho (knee) will be fit to face Arsenal.
