Italian legend Francesco Totti is seeing the last days of his illustrious career though sadly, he will not add this season’s UEFA Champions League title to his glittering profile after his Roma side suffered elimination at the hands of Real Madrid on Tuesday 8 March.
The 39 – year old striker was introduced in the final minutes of the second round clash with the Spanish giants at that Santiago Bernabeu as his side suffered a 0 – 2 loss and 0 – 4 on aggregate.
On his introduction, he was given an ovation by the Real supporters even after declining to play for the Spanish side earlier in his career and speaking after the match, he said it was very emotional and he regrets never taking the chance to move to Spain.
“The Santiago Bernabeu is an amazing stadium. Real Madrid are my only regret. It was very emotional to get such a warm welcome. This is a great memory for me.”
“I have missed some things in recent weeks, but I want to enjoy this great moment for now. We will see what happens from here on,” he said.
