Real Madrid woes have deepened with the news of Frenchman Karim Benzema’s injury after the striker was withdrawn midway through the game against Atletico Madrid on Saturday 27 February.
The club has confirmed the striker, who has scored 19 goals this term will be out for three weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in the game which Real Madrid lost 0 – 1.
This is a blow manager Zinedine Zidane would have liked to avoid especially after a loss that threw his team’s title dreams in tatters with the UEFA Champions League assignments also around the corner.
The France international could miss La Liga matches against Levante, Celta Vigo, Las Palmas and Sevilla as well as the Champions League return leg against AS Roma.
A Real Madrid statement said: “After tests, Karim Benzema has been diagnosed with a muscle injury to his right hamstring.”
