Spanish giants Real Madrid labored through their La Liga clash with minnows Las Palmas away from the capital and managed a scrappy 2 – 1 win in the Sunday 13 March clash.
The visitors were on the defensive for large chunks but made the breakthrough after a rare raid into the Las Palmas penalty area and with a delightful glancing header Sergio Ramos scored from a corner on 23 minutes, moments after Cristiano Ronaldo was denied when clean through.
A hard fighting Las Palmas got the equaliser their play deserved as Willian Jose equalised with a composed finish inside the area against his former club following Momo’s delicious pass on 87 minutes.
The joy, however, lasted just two minutes as Casemiro headed home from a corner.
The match had some late twists as goalscorer Ramos was sent off for a second yellow card on the 90th minute.
Ramos, and Pepe who got booked earlier in the game are thus out of next weekend’s clash with Sevilla.
