Kenyan international Jesse Were is all set for his next career step after being confirmed at Zambian champions Zesco for the 2016 season.
Were joined the Ndola based side towards the close of 2015, a year that saw him bag the top scorer’s accolade in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) and he will be looking to replicate his form at the team.
In his first interview with the club’s official website upon joining, he said his ambition is to help the team retain the league crown as well as perform well in the CAF Champions League.
Were meets another Kenyan, David Owino who has already spent a season at the side and he said the defender, his international team mate was key in his move.
“I am happy to join Zesco United. It’s a great club. I have heard about it and even my colleague (David Owino) told me about it. I have come to help them first, retain the league they won last year. Two, I look forward to participating yet again in the Champions League, it’s a great honour and my ultimate objective is to help the club achieve more in the competition,” he told the club’s website.
Another Kenyan, Anthony Akumu also joined the team towards the end of 2015, to make three the number of Kenyans at the team.
