Arsenal new signing Assisa Oshoala fired blanks as Manchester City Ladies thrashed the Nigerian international and her Gunners’ team-mates 2-0 to move to the top of the Women Super League (WSL) 1 table.
The former Liverpool forward who was making her second league start since joining Arsenal last week bagged 46 minutes of action in an encounter the Arsenal Ladies team had to play for more than 75 minutes with 10 players.
Arsenal hit the bar from Fara Williams’ early free-kick, but Jemma Rose was sent off for a poor challenge on Nikita Parris after just 13 minutes.
City took the lead after the break when Toni Duggan crossed to the onrushing Jane Ross, who headed home.
Duggan sealed victory with a penalty after Dominique Janssen fouled Parris.
