The shambolic tournament that Kenya has had at the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge continued with off field shows on Wednesday 2nd December as the team’s Team Manager Willia Waliaula was held at the Churchill Hotel in Piassa, Addis Ababa over unpaid hotel bills and later tendered his resignation.
The team was supposed to pay an extra amount for six members of the 31 – man contingent that traveled for the tournament, with CECAFA management only catering for 25 but by the time of checkout that had not been sorted.
Waliaula had to stay back as the team left for Nairobi last night and speaking to 366football.com, he confirmed he has resigned owing to poor treatment by the federation and harsh conditions at work.
“I am officialy declaring that I have resigned from my post because of poor handling by the federation and very harsh working conditions. I was detained at the hotel because of this job and the federation does not seem to care much.
“I have contacted the Kenyan embassy here to see how we can settle this bill and I hope it is cleared soon but I will not be staying on as the Team Manager,” he said.
