Nigeria’s beach national team, Super Sand Eagles defeated Lebanon 7-4 in the final game of the Copa Lagos Beach Soccer tournament to place second at the event held at the Eko Atlantic City on Sunday.
The coach Audu Adamu led side had earlier surrendered the title to Cote d’Ivoire who defeated England 6-4 to lift the trophy for the second consecutive year.
Last years MVP, Abu Azeez netted inside the opening minute to set the ball rolling for the Nigerian side.
Ahmed Grada level up three minutes later before Mohamed Merhi fired in a free kick past Olalekan Oladepo in goal for Nigeria to give his side a 2-1 lead.
Super Sand Captain Victor Tale then scored twice in two minutes to restore his team’s one-goal before Merhi once again netted from a free kick to even the score at 3-3.
Ifeanyi Onuigbo, then justify Hus inclusion in the team by scoring Nigeria’s fourth just before the end of the first period.
Warri Wolves striker, Azeez scored twice in the second quarter to give Nigeria end the quarter 6-3.
In final quarter, Merhi pulled one back before Abu increased the tally to put the game beyond the Lebanese to end the tie 7-4.
