Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez continued his impressive form as he scored in Chile’s opening 2018 World Cup qualifier against Brazil to inspire the La Roja to a 2-0 victory on Friday for their first victory over Dunga’s men in 15 years.

Vargas who was topscorer in Chile’s triumphant Copa America campaign netted the opener before Sanchez scored late on to wrap up the victory for the Copa America Champions.

Brazil proved hard to break down and it wasn’t until 18 minutes from time that Chile opened the scoring.

Former QPR striker Eduardo struck home a sweet opener before Sanchez tapped in from close range in the 88th minute after linking up well with Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal.

Brazil had been desperate to move on from a disappointing Copa America campaign which followed their humiliating 7-1 drubbing against Germany in last year’s World Cup semi-finals.

But the Brazilians, lacking the creative flair of Neymar who is serving a suspension, struggled to find a way through a physical Chile side who were fortunate to finish the game with 11 men.

Elsewhere, Lionel Messi’s Argentina slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Ecuador.
