Coach of the United States U-17 team, Richie Willams has confessed that he is quite disappointed with his sides’ opening day loss to Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets at the ongoing FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile.
At the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez PrádanosSantiago De Chile, it was the Eaglets that finished as 2-0 winner and for Coach Williams, his players would have themselves to blame for their errors which gave the Eaglets their desired winning start.
“We are obviously disappointed because of the outcome. We played a good first half, we were balanced, solid and we even created some chance that we were not able to convert. The USA Coach began his post-match assessment.
He added: “Nigeria scored two quick goals, but thank to unfortunate errors on our side. We were hoping to be more effective, but we lost against a good Nigerian team.”
Having started on a losing note, USA will hope they can bounce back against Croatia on Tuesday.
The Americans area at the bottom of the log after the first set of games in Group A. The Eaglets are top with maximum three points while Chile and Croatia are tied in second and third after playing out a 1-1 draw in their own group opener.
