Kenyan international midfielder McDonald Mariga could have a new employer ahead of the coming season with AC Pisa and US Salernitana both looking to secure his services.
Mariga’s six month contract with US Latina Calcio ran out last month but according to Italian site Libero, the club is also negotiating with the player for an extension.
“The midfielder (Mariga) will meet the management to seek agreement on a new contract. He has preferred to stay in Latina than accept other offers coming his way,” read the statement on Libero.
The 29-year-old player who has 47 caps for the national team Harambee Stars with five goals is said to be at advanced stages of talks with AC Pisa.
“AC Pisa has a set a surprise free transfer negotiation with midfielder McDonald Mariga, born in 1987. He was last season with US Latina but the former Parma FC man is a free agent. The deal is at an advanced stage, it may be sealed soon,” a statement on Sestaporta read in part.
Mariga has played for Inter and Parma between 2010 and 2014, with a short loan spell at La Liga side Real Sociedad in between.
