Nigerian international Emmanuel Emenike failed to score as Fenerbahce opened their account in the UEFA Europa League with a 1-1 draw against Zorya in Ukraine.
The 29-year-old who started the season on a bang when he scored twice against AS Monaco in the Champions League preliminary but they were unfortunately eliminated over two legs.
Emenike came on for Alper Potuk with 23 minutes left in the match and immediately tested the goalkeeper as he powered a shot in but it was blocked.
The Nigerian put himself into every tackle as he tried to help his side equalize after the home side took the lead through a Dmytro Grechyshkin blinding shot from outside the box.
However, it was defender Simon Kjaer that scored a late leveller to earn Fenerbahce a point in faraway Ukraine.
Emenike played on loan at premier league side West Ham United last season and will hope to have a spectacular season under Dutch manager Dick Advocaat.
