Officials have confirmed 23 home-based players are now set to hit Pretoria, South Africa for a training camp ahead of the 2016 CHAN tournament that will go down in Rwanda.
A breakdown of the list of 23 players heading to Pretoria obtained by 366football.com showed that three goalkeepers, Femi Thomas, Okemute Odah and Ikechukwu Ezenwa are top on the list.
Some the 20 outfield players heading to Pretoria include the attacking duo of Tunde Adeniji who plays for Sunshine Stars as well as Chisom Chikatara which reports suggest is close to a switch to Kano Pillars from Abia Warriors.
Toyin Ibitoye, the media officer for the Super Eagles told 366football.com that the Eagles will play two friendly games next week even as they hope for a memorable outing in Rwanda.
“By Wednesday, we will have our first test match against Angola and on the 11th , we will be filing out against Cote d’ Ivorie” the media officer explained.
Nigeria are drawn with Tunisia, Niger and Guinea in Group C of the 2016 CHAN and play their opening match on January 18 in Kigali against Niger.
The home-based Eagles under the tutelage of Coach Stephen Keshi settled for bronze last time out in South Africa but they will hope for a better finish as they travel East of Africa in search of football glory
